This is a video showing and extensive, sand based ice rink repair where the U-bends had pulled away from the rink ends due to excessive ground heaves due to a sub-floor (heat) failure. The rink actually opened up like an earth quake fault line. Rink Specialists removed the end boards, installed a new rebar retension system and compensated for the gap where the cold floor pipes had pulled away in some areas as much as 12 inches. By adjusting the new rebar and extending the two outmost piping curcuits, Rink Specialists was able to over come the massive end board gap and provide enough cooling to ensure a tight freeze to the boards. Then the boards were reinstalled and the sand surface was leveled to remove any evidence of heaving. Once the surface was ready, the foor was cooled and leveled again with ice. The final process was the painting of the ice surface using Rink Specialists line of ice paints, Ultra Pure Ice Paints and the installation of a center ice logo using another RS Inlay product. |
